Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav lashed out at the BJP and RSS for “divisive politics”, and said that Yogi Adityanath must realize that it is his job to free the state from all malaise. “If the current government is not ousted, it would be harmful for the country,” he said.

Addressing a rally in Mumbai on Sunday  Akhilesh Yadav charged that the BJP’s “communal politics” was a ploy to divert people’s  attention from the government’s failures in addressing core governance issues such as employment, poverty, and farm distress, Yadav said his party had the wherewithal to dethrone the BJP in power. During the Mumbai rally, SP leaders from the state also fired salvos at the Sharad Pawar led Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress leadership in the state

Yadav also lashed out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over the failure to curb farmer suicides in the state, and “misleading” the farmers over the farm loan waiver.  He hit out at the Modi government over demonetisation, claiming that the government had failed to achieve the objectives it had announced for the campaign. He also targeted the government for poor implementation of the GST regime.

“First,  the BJP came to power  at Center by misleading the masses  by making false  promise   and after taking over the reins, it has indulged in divisive politics and is raking up communal issues so   to divert the attention of the people  from the basic issues like unemployment  and rural distress leading to farmer suicides,” he said.

The government, guided by the RSS, is trying to distort the tenets of Constitution, he said. “It is trying to create a divide between Hindus and Muslims, between castes. This is harmful, and we know how to deal with it. We will dethrone these people in 2019 and 2022,” Yadav said, referring to the next lok Sabha and Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, respectively.
