First time after the SP’s first family feud became public, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav held a ‘Janata Darshan’ where he interacted with people and listened to the their woes before directing officers to take action against the guilty.

“The guilty will not be spared,” Yadav told Mehranussa (48) of Shahajahanpur, who complained how her kin had grabbed her land after the husband’s death.

With a six-year-old daughter accompanying her, she said: “I told the CM sahib everything about my relatives. He has taken my papers and telephone number and instructed officials to take action against the guilty,” she said.

Hundreds of people swarmed the CM’s official residence at 5, Kalidas Marg to lodge their complaints. Majority of them wanted government `naukri’ on one pretext or the other but there were others, who wanted help from the government for their ailing relative.

Bijnore resident Suresh Soni’s father has been suffering from oral cancer. He needs financial help as doctors in PGI have suggested that the treatment would cost over Rs 8 lakh. “I told CM sahib about my father’s condition and he has assured help for him,” said Soni.

“CM in fact asked an officer as how much money the state government can give to cancer patients. The CM told me that his government has launched a special scheme to help cancer patients. I am hopeful that we will get money for the treatment,” Soni said.

Personnel, who man the Janata Darshan regularly, admitted that this time there was more rush as compared to last time. “There was no Janata Darshan on last Wednesday because of the family unrest. Everything has settled now and the CM has started the programme again,” a constable posted at 5 Kalidas Marg said.

Among the numerous people frequenting the CM’s residence but failing to get audience, Jitendra Chibber of Bareilly is one. He came to complain against the local police for not taking interest in probing his father’s murder.

“Police of Faridpur police station has been bribed by the murderers and are protecting them. I have brought this to the CM’s notice. It is third time lucky for me as I had failed to meet him in my last two attempts,” he said.

Every person who met the CM looked satisfied. “The CM has assured us that action would be taken against the guilty. He told officials time and again. Now, I am sure the message will go down,” Mehranusa said.
