Samajwadi Party president and former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav demanded a CBI probe into the death of a boy by police bullet in Mathura and the lynching of a person by police in Kannauj recently.

“Jungle raaj has returned to UP in the present BJP regime. The administration has failed to give any respite to the masses while harassment has increased. The Yogi government has failed in discharging its fundamental duty of providing safety and security to the masses and maintaining law and order after coming to power a year ago,” he said.

The former Chief Minister visited Saurikh village in Kannauj to meet the family members of a man who was beaten to death by police recently. After his meeting, Akhilesh alleged that the administration was working under pressure of BJP leaders in the state.

``It is unfortunate that a person was beaten black and blue. When the media raised the matter, the last rites were done without an autopsy. Similarly in Mathura, an eight-year-old boy was killed by a police bullet. In both cases, the government should recommend a CBI probe,” he said.

The SP president also handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh as compensation to the family and assured a lohia Awas when the SP came back to power in the state. later, Akhilesh visited a government primary school at Nibari Rampur and enquired about distribution of sweaters to students.
