Akhilesh to launch FB campaign to improve governance

Biswajeet, PNS

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who is also the state president of the party, will launch a campaign on Facebook named 'Talk To Your CM' to seek suggestions from people for improving governance.

The campaign's punch line will be 'You too can make a difference to Uttar Pradesh' and the target will be the youth. The move of the SP would also be an effort to counter the development issues raised by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in his meetings where he time and again talked about truant electricity, bad roads and lack of interest shown by private entrepreneurs to invest in Uttar Pradesh.

In his interactions Modi had said that until Akhilesh Yadav Government bring crime under control neither the industrial not the tourism sector will improve as no one would be interested to come here.  "Bad law and order will bring a bad signal for the state. No industrialist will be interested to invest in the state where crime rate is high and there is no guarantee of life and property. So, it is imperative for the state government to improve law and order situation here," Modi had said in his Chai ki Chaupal while answering a query from a person in lucknow. Modi had said that Uttar Pradesh has an immense opportunity to improve its tourism network. There are hundreds of things which Uttar Pradesh can showcase. But the bottom line is law and order. No one will come unless they feel safe here.

In an attempt to find answers to Modi’s questions Samajwadi Party has put up hoardings telling the people about the campaign it is going to launch. Even though the advertisement contains Akhilesh's  Twitter handle, a major focus will be on campaign through Facebook. Akhilesh has linked his facebook Id with twitter so whatever he posts in FB gets reflected in twitter. The SP government aims to draw responses from the people in the form of what it calls 'honest feedback' and then implement the ideas suggested by them.

The Chief Minister has advised the leaders to be prepared as he expects that suggestions will pour in once the campaign goes live. "Not only suggestions, we are also expecting that people will share their personal experiences with various government departments in the state. It will give us room for improvement," the leader said.

The campaign will run through Akhilesh's Facebook page, which has over four lakh 'likes'. The page, which discusses the government's achievements contains Akhilesh's photograph from Military School, Dholpur, Rajasthan. Recently, the CM has also loaded series of photos in FB  taken during his chopper ride to different places of the state.
