After 1200 school bags bearing the image of former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav with the tagline '‘Khoob padho, khoob badho’ got accidentally diustributed in tate-run primary schools in Gujarat, Yadav lost little time in taking to the cyber space to needle the BJP which is at the helm at both states - UP and Gujarat.
The Samajwadi Party chief tweeted, "Sawal ye hai ki UP ke baste Gujarat me kaise bant rahe hain. Sticker se tasveer to chhipaya ja rahi hai, lekhin Samajwadi kaam aur rang phir bhi dikh raha hai (The question is as to how school bags of UP were being distributed in Gujarat. Sticker may be used to cover up the photo, but the work done by Samajwadi Party government and colour is clearly visible).
Akhilesh loyalist and MlC Sunil Yadav said “It’s indeed surprising to see such kind of irregularity being committed by the Gujarat government for school kids. It’s a matter of shame for the UP government and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. How can schools bags carrying image of Akhilesh Yadav be distributed in Gujarat IJ It can only be done by stealing these bags meant for UP schools. Yogi Adityanath owes an answer to the people and his Government should clarify how these bags reached Gujarat.”
Bags with Yadav's picture was reported from tribal villages of Sankheda district in Gujarat where an government enrolment drive in primary schools coined ‘Shala Pravesh Utsav’ is underway. District Panchyat officials covered Yadav's photo on the bags with a logo of District Panchyat. As the bags were distributed, students peeled off the sticker and Yadav's photo and its tagline surfaced.
Gujarat government officials claimed that the bags were supplied by a firm in Suratand a probe was ordered into the matter. It is assumed that the Surat firm may have been supplying similar bags to UP Government earlier as Yadav's picture was found printed on five per cent of the bags that were distributed.
