Samajwadi Party has started the process of seat sharing with its allies. SP president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday held a meeting with the alliance partners to discuss the seat sharing.

SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said Om Prakash Rajbhar, president of Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party, Masood Ahmed, state president of Rashtriya Lok Dal, Shivpal Singh Yadav, president of Pragtisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) and his son Aditya Yadav, president of Apna Dal Krishna Patel and other KK Shamr of Nationalist Congress Party and other leaders attended the meeting.

Akhilesh Yadav, while sharing a picture with the leaders of alliance partners, tweeted, “Discussed the development and future of Uttar Pradesh with the top leaders of alliance partners.”

The meeting decided to give one seat to Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party. The NCP will contest the Anupsahar assembly seat in Bulandshahr district.

Samajwadi Party sources said it was agreed upon to give six seats to Shivpal Yadav led PSPL. Though Shivpal Yadav made no comment, it is understood that his party would contest Gunnaur in Budaun district, Jaswantnagar, Bhojpur, Mubarakpur and Ghazipur.

One seat has also been given to Mamta Banerjee led Trinamool Congress and Lalitesh Pati Tripathi will contest from Marihan assembly seat in Mirzapur district.

Sources said the SP has decided to leave 103 seats of the 403-member UP assembly for the allies after several rounds of meetings with the RLD president Jayant Chaudhary. SP has agreed to leave 32 seats for RLD.

The seat sharing of the SP with the SBSP is still stuck as Rajbhar is adamant on at least 48 seats in eastern UP.

SP sources said once the names of the candidates were finalised for the seats to go to polls in the first phase, the list of SP candidates will be released soon.
