Failing to get any relief from the Supreme Court, former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav have decided to shift to private accommodations in lucknow.
The duo had sought two years to vacate their government bungalows in lucknow but have now decided to comply with the SC order.
Truck loads of household goods were being transported to the new accommodations of Akhilesh Yadav and his father from Wednesday night which continued till Friday.
While Akhilesh is vacating his 4 Vikramaditya Marg bungalow, his father is vacating the adjacent bungalow. The deadline to vacate two properties will end on June 3.
“The shifting would be completed by Friday night. Both are shifting to separate private bungalows on the outskirts of lucknow,’’ said Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary.
Akhilesh has also sent a request to Estate department seeking four suites in the VVIP guest house on Mahatma Gandhi Marg as temporary accommodation from where he could operate till the shifting ends. The suites were to be allotted in his name, in the name of his MP wife Dimple Yadav and two Rajya Sabha MPs Sanjay Seth and Surendra Nagar.
SP sources said that the call to vacate the bungalows was taken in the wake of the 15-day notice that the Estate department had served on Akhilesh and Mulayam on May 17.
Earlier, Akhilesh had announced that his house was under construction on Vikramaditya Marg and till then he would stay in a rented house.
Union Home minister Rajnath Singh and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh have already vacated their bungalows, in a way, forcing the SP leaders to follow suit.
Earlier, Mulayam Singh Yadav had met chief minister Yogi Adityanath to allow him to stay in the bungalow for some moe time, but the latter expressed helplessness in view of the Supreme Court directive.
Meanwhile, BSP chief Mayawati claimed that she has vacated 6, Shastri Marg bungalow, which was allotted to her as former Chief Minister. The Estate department however maintained that 13-A Mall Avenue, which the BSP claims as Kanshiram Yaadgar Vishmaralaya, was the bungalow allotted to her as former CM.
Former CM Narain Dutt Tiwari too has not vacated his bungalow yet and his family members have put up a board of a Trust on the bungalow after a notice of vacation was served to them.
