Ajit Singh's son supporting SP's goonda and jhanda: Yogi

Launching an acerbic attack on Rashtriya Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the former joined hands with the same party about whom his late father Ajit Singh had once commented that “jis gaadi me sapa ka jhanda, samjho baitha koi kukhyat gunda’.

Addressing a public meeting in Thakurdwara constituency in Moradabad, Yogi Adityanath said, "Jayant is supporting the Samajwadi Party who patronised goons and rioters. In a desperate attempt to regain lost political ground in UP, Jayant displayed his desperation in taking the place of Mohammad Azam Khan, who is known for his diabolical persona. How could the hand pump of RLD get water as the tubewell connections were not provided to the people by the SP government between 2012 and 2017.”

Taking a pot shot at the previous government, Yogi alleged that riots, curfews and exodus of locals were the order of the day before Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in Uttar Pradesh.

“The Samajwadi Party did not provide security to girls and women of the state, rendering them insecure. The situation of the state however has completely transformed in the last five years. Not a single riot has taken place in the last five years while 700 riots took place during the SP government in UP. Girls were scared of going to school while business establishments used to pull down their shutters in the evening. Criminals and gangsters are now running for their lives while corruption has been brought under control. Bulldozers are running over SP’s friends in the perfume industry to dig out public money that they had looted during previous governments," he added.

The chief minister said that had former BJP MP Sarvesh Singh been the MP from the region, people like ST Hasan and Shafiqur Rehman Barq would not have dared to support the Taliban.

It may be recalled that Hasan and Barq have supported the cause of Taliban on several occasions.

Sharpening his attack on the SP government, Yogi said, “Curfew was imposed during all festivals during its tenure. In our government, no curfew was imposed even during the coronavirus crisis. In today's Uttar Pradesh, there are no more bomb explosions and instead there are now Kanwar Yatras amidst chants of ‘Bum-Bum’."

Later, interacting with the public, the chief minister said that Samajwadi Party used to establish factories of firearms, on the other hand the BJP was busy getting the defence manufacturing corridor built in the state.

“The Samajwadi Party failed to provide even 18,000 houses to the poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana while my government gave 43.50 lakh houses to the poor in the last five years of BJP rule. The good governance of the BJP has been seen by all of you in sharp contrast to the disastrous rule of SP and hence I urge you all to give the BJP another chance to make your lives better,” Yogi said.
