The problems of Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi seems unending on his controversial remarks on Muslim community. After clerics now Muslim organisation have lambasted him and demanded his arrest.
All India Ulama and Mashaikh Board (AIUMB), an apex body of Sunni Sufi Muslims has reacted sharply on the Azmi’s remark where he said that Muslims would undergo DNA test who do not vote for Samajwadi Party.President AIUMB, Maulana Syed Mohammad Ashraf Kichhauchhvi reacted that it is now necessary to put Abu Asim on mental test. He is a political activist; he must keep himself limited to political views. He has no authority to issue edicts (Fatwas) as whom to vote as a Muslim.
“Abu Asim has crossed his limits as a political worker by expressing doubts about the religious credentials of a Muslims who does not vote for Samajwadi party. Only a recognized Mufti can issue an edict. Even every cleric and Islamic cleric does not have such an authority. So, it is better for Azmi to keep himself restricted to political observations,” he added.
President AIUMB said that not voting Samajwadi is not a crime. Since the SP government came into power, state has seen several big communal riots including Muzaffarnagar and it seems that the state government has surrendered to communalist and fascist forces and has allowed them completely free run.
Meanwhile, Spokesperson of Rihai Manch, Shahnawaz Alam has filed a complaint with SSP lucknow on the basis of Azmi’s controversial speech air on a new channel on May 2. “His statement was hurting the religious sentiments and as constitution gives right to vote to everyone which has no relation to religious practice. Azmi tried to compel Muslims that voting for SP is their religious duty,” said Alam in complaint letter. He demanded that case should be lodged against him under section 153-A and 295-A of IPC and 125 of People’s Representation Act as its an offensive crime.
