The Aam Aadmi Party will launch a membership drive under the ‘UP Jodo’ campaign from July 8. AAP UP incharge Sanjay Singh said the party’s aim is to rope in one crore members in a week and the workers and leaders have been asked to start working on this.
Singh told mediapersons on Wednesday that people in UP have shown a strong liking for Kejriwal’s model of governance in the past and the membership drive is being launched to add members.
“We have set a target of adding 25,000 members from each of the constituencies and this will be nearly 1 crore in UP,” he said.
He said the workers and leaders will be campaigning door to door and will get the people to join the party without any membership fee. “The membership for AAP will be free of cost. We will be holding camps in villages in the time to come,” he said.
He did not spare the chance to hit out at the Yogi Adityanath government saying a woman dancer was forced to perform during a procession of gram pradhan in Charkhari.
Under the membership campaign, there will be different missed call mobile numbers for each of 403 constituencies in UP to join the membership. The party will do wall writing from June 25 to July 28 and the missed call mobile numbers will be displayed on these write-ups. There will be separate incharges for each of the zones and the campaign will be steered by state president Sabahjeet Singh.
