The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) added glamour to the lucknow seat as Bollywood Actor Javed Jafry’s name was declared to contest against Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Rajnath Singh.
Although for lucknow seat grandson of former PM lal Bahadur Shastri, Adarsh Shastri was the front runner but sudden announcement of actor’s name surprised AAP’s state unit members.
Not only Shastri but there were many other contenders for seat. Senior AAP leader, Illyas Aazmi returned the ticket from lakhimpur Kheri and demanded to field him from lucknow seat or else he will not contest elections.
There were names of Chairman All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF), Shailendra Dubey and General Secretary, All India Railwaymen Federation (AIRF), Shiv Gopal Mishra for lucknow seat.
The candidature of the Javed Jafry has put the seat in the very interesting mood as he had been fielded against Rajnath Singh and Congress candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi. There were two more interesting candidates from Samajwadi Party (SP) Abhishek Mishra and Nakul Dubey of BSP.Jafry’s ancestors belong to Datia in Madhya Pradesh and had no connection with state or lucknow.
