The Uttar Pradesh unit of Aam Aadmi Party celebrated the victory of the party in the municipal corporation elections in Delhi, at the party office in Lucknow on Wednesday.

Earlier, the party workers and leaders assembled at the AAP office and watched the counting of votes and started dancing and distributing sweets soon after the final tally was announced.

Speaking on the occasion, AAP leader Sabhajeet Singh said the party’s victory in the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) election was a certificate by the public for Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s works in Delhi.

He reiterated AAP's announcement to contest all the seats in urban local bodies’ elections in Uttar Pradesh and said the party would uproot the Bharatiya Janata Party as it had done in the MCD election.

“The BJP was in power in the MCD for the last 15 years and we uprooted them there. During this period, the BJP made a record on corruption and Delhi became a city of garbage. The public was happy with AAP for free electricity and better education, medical, water supply and other amenities in Delhi. They put their trust in Chief Minister Kejriwal,” he said.

Singh said the victory in MCD polls had boosted the morale of the AAP workers and leaders and they would contest the election in UP with vigor and vitality. “We will launch a door-to-door campaign and will appeal to the public in UP to give a chance to AAP to end the corruption in municipal corporations and panchayats,” he said.
