Eight criminals were arrested after mild force used by the police at Asapur crossing falling under Malavan police station in Etah district on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday night and also recovered five country-made pistols, a vehicle used in an incident of crime, a stolen motor-cycle, the truck and the consignment which were stolen in the incident.
Source said that they were involved in an incident of loot and murder that took place at Nagaria , GT road in Nidaulikala area of Etah district in which truck driver Ashok Yadav was also shot dead by them and taken away the goods along with the truck worth several lakhs. According to the police that the truck (UP-AT-5981) which was loaded with electronic goods, read-made garments and goccery items was coming to Etah to deliver consignment there on January 16 last. The criminals who were on the vehicle intercepted the truck and stopped Asapur crossing few kilometer from Etah.
One of the culprit shot at driver when he tried to resist with them in which he was serious injured and reported died on the spot. After the incident the culprits along with the trucks and good escaped away.
An FIR was lodged by the manager of the transport company Mithun Pandey at Nidaulikaka police station on the following day alleged one of the culprit shot dead the driver and looted the goods and taken away the truck to unknown place and thrown the driver`s body in nearby forest.
The police team on the night patrolling noticed three persons moving on a motor-cycle in suspicious manner on the intervening night of Thursdayand Friday.
They began to fire on the police party when the police asked them to stop and disclose their identity. They resorted to shooting. In reply, the police also fired in self defence but they were nabbed after hot chase. During the interrogation, they revealed that they and others were involved in killing and looting. They told the police the motor-cycle was stolen from Etah few days ago.
