2017 UP polls to be BJP's battle royale: Shahnawaz

PNS

Elated over the possibility of BJP forming the state government in Assam and the party opening its account in Kerala, senior leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that BJP's main battle will be the 2017 Assembly polls of Uttar Pradesh.

"The exit polls of five states have indicated positive results in favour of the BJP. This is a good news for the leadership and it shows that winds are still blowing in favour of the party.

But our real test would be in UP for which the party is in a battle-ready mode," Hussain told reporters in lucknow on Tuesday.

The BJP leader from Bihar said that the young CM of UP has failed to deliver. People had high hopes from Yadav but he failed to give a new direction to the state.

"In his first press conference, the Chief Minister had vowed to transform Uttar Pradesh into Uttam Pradesh but unfortunately he has made it a Ulta Pradesh," he said.

"The countdown of SP regime has begun as people are fed up with the misrule. The farmers want water and food but the CM is busy giving advertisements claiming that UP has become Unnat Pradesh. People have read through the veneer of duplicity," Hussain said.

The BJP leader said that ruling SP has failed to help the Dalits, who were tormented in Azamgarh. The biggest surprise is the silence of Mayawati on the issue. She is quick to react on atrocities against Dalits in Haryana but her silence on Azamgarh is deafening. This shows a tacit truck between the SP and the BSP," said the national BJP spokesman.

Taking a jibe at the Bihar CM, the BJP leader said that Nitish Kumar is unable to set his house in order but is roaming around giving sermons.

"He should first end the prevailing jungle raj in Bihar and then give suggestions to others," he said.

"Bihar sharab mukt to ho gaya - apradh mukt kab hoga (Bihar is now liquor free state, but when will it be crime free)," asked Hussain.
