The Uttar Pradesh government has resolved to link all the families living below poverty line (BPL) with the Ayushman Bharat/ Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya scheme to provide them free medical facilities.
Ayushman Bharat is one of its kind welfare schemes of the Government of India while the UP government has launched a similar scheme, the Mukhya Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, for the benefit of the poor.
As many as 1.18 crore families of UP are getting benefits of Ayushman Bharat while eight lakh families are being benefited from the Jan Arogya Scheme.
An official spokesman said here on Tuesday that about two crore families were still not covered by Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
“A proposal in this regard is under active consideration to enable these two crore families to get the benefits of this novel scheme,’’ he added.
