Uttar Pradesh reported 19 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday while during the last 24 hours, 20 patients recovered. High recoveries and low number of new COVID-19 cases have eased the active Covid caseload in the state to 250. The active cases in the most populous state of the country have come down by over 99 per cent from its peak capped at 3.10 lakh cases on April 30.

The new infections have also been reduced by over 38,000 from its peak which was 38,055 capped on April 24 even as other major states continue to witness a surge of fresh coronavirus infections (daily cases ranging from 22,000-2,000). UP has been able to contain the daily-case count below 100 for over 50 consecutive days. What comes as another big relief, none of the 75 districts in the state have reported fresh cases of coronavirus infection in double-digits lately.

Indicating signs that the dangerous virus is receding from the state, as many as 64 districts reported no fresh case of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, whereas 11 districts reported new cases in single digit.
