‘SP always promoted lawlessness’

PNS

Hitting out at Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, Bharatiya Janata Party state president Swatantra Dev Singh said that the SP had always promoted lawlessness and was therefore against the ruling party which was trying to restore normalcy in the state.

Yadav has said that if the SP comes to power next time it will withdraw cases against the people who have been arrested during protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. He has also said that his government will order a probe into the violence during the anti-CAA protests and punish the guilty officers.

“The statement of Yadav is on the expected lines. When he, as chief minister, can withdraw cases against terrorists, he can very well withdraw cases against arsonists who burnt the OB vans, damaged public property and set fire to two-wheelers of journalists,” Singh said in a statement issued here on Sunday.

He said that the BJP government on the other hand initiated probe against the terrorists who planted bombs in court premises.

“The Samajwadi Party is adamant on opposing the BJP. Whatever we do, the SP leaders will oppose us. They are even opposing NPR (National Population Register) even when it is in force since 2010. It has been made clear that people are not supposed to give any document still the SP leaders are spreading canard,” the BJP state president said.

Singh said the BJP government had built toilets for the poor and provided them free electricity and LPG connections but the SP leaders were silent on this.
