‘Majboor’ govt better for people: Mayawati

PNS

Bahujan Samaj Party national president Mayawati on Saturday mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election theme of a strong government versus weak (helpless) one, and claimed  that a “majboor” ruling alliance would actually have been better.

During elections, Modi used to ask people whether they wanted a “majboor” (helpless) or a “majboot” (strong) government.

“There has been a full majority government both at the Centre and the state for the past some time but the necessary improvement has not taken place in UP. This proves that in the interest of the people it is the ‘majboor’ government which is required rather than a ‘majboot’ one,” Mayawati said.

“A ‘majboor’ government will have fear and will work for the welfare of people. Such a government will not be an autocratic one and its leaders too will not take the law in their hands, and create anarchy and corruption,” the BSP supremo said while addressing party leaders of Purvanchal and Awadh regions here on Saturday.

She also alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party government was siphoning the funds meant for rural employment.

During review meeting of the party, Mayawati also assessed the preparations for the upcoming bypolls to 12 Assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh.

She met the office-bearers of the party’s nine divisions of Awadh and Purvanchal and gave them necessary directions and guidelines that are to be followed strictly.

The review meeting, held in the BSP state office here, discussed the by-election preparations at length. It was decided that one zone would be formed by combining three divisions and the division head would work as zone in-charge.  It was also decided that the division coordinator would work as chief zone in-charge.

The BSP supremo said that the committees formed at the booth level should be reviewed and all small and big office-bearers and workers should work hard for the bypolls.

Concern was expressed that villagers, the poor and farmers were suffering in UP, especially the Purvanchal area from where both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath come, and that the helpless people were now migrating from these areas.

The BSP workers said scores of poor people were waiting for better crime control, law and order, public welfare and development. They said that despite there being BJP governments at the Centre and in the state, there was no noteworthy change in the daily life of the poor

They said law and order, power supply, roads, water supply, health, education, traffic, transport and primary education were in a bad shape.
