Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Punished for honesty” (August 2).
You have rightly and candidly stated that the Akhilesh Yadav-led Government in Uttar Pradesh has killed two birds with one stone. First, it got rid of a brave officer who was performing her duty with sincerity; and, second, it has appeased the ever-appeased minority community for the forthcoming 2014 election.
Before suspending the young IAS officer, a probe should have been ordered against her so-called action of demolishing a mosque wall. If she indeed ordered the demolition of the mosque wall, it was also as per a Supreme Court order that no religious structure can come up in a public place.
