Who will take onus for this loss of confidence?

Gulati

This refers to the report, “India has lost confidence of the world: Ratan Tata” (August 29). Mr Tata belongs to that rare breed of industry captains who very carefully voice their opinions. When he speaks, he does so fearlessly and pulls no punches. Therefore, his observations on the country’s economic mess must be seriously considered. To a large extent the economic crisis that India is facing is of its own making.

One would like to know from Mr Tata what his specific suggestions are on stemming the downslide of the rupee, lifting the inert industrial growth and improving the confidence of investors and the aam aadmi. He has decades of experience in successfully managing an industrial behemoth, and his views are important both for the people and the policymakers. In fact, to many of his admirers, Mr Tata is a fit and worthy candidate even for the prime ministership, should there be a fractured mandate in 2014 or earlier.
