Well-rounded Budget will benefit every segment

This refers to the editorial, “The action begins now” (March 2). Union Minister for Finance Arun Jaitley's Budget has laid the foundations for economic growth of the country and has ensured social security for the common man. These objectives have been met by giving impetus to the corporate sectors by reducing corporate tax from 30 per cent to 25 per cent over a period of four years. The left has criticised it by saying that the Budget is making the rich, richer and the poor, poorer. The left wants all to become poor so that the Marxist model can flourish

Second, the Budget has given benefits to the poor and the middle class through various social security schemes covering insurance and pension. Third, a number of measures have been taken to develop infrastructure by leaps and bounds to take India forward rapidly, by cutting down on red tape and multiple clearances.
