This refers to the editorial, “People suffer, he laughs” (April 9). As the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr Ajit Pawar should show restraint at public forums with regard to what he speaks and on what he comments. Making a mockery of the severe drought and power shortage situation that currently grips the State, the Deputy Chief Minister has exposed his own immaturity and ineffectualness. He aspires to become the Chief Minister of the State one day, but he sorely lacks the stature, wisdom and gravitas to occupy such a post.
Though he has apologised for his crass remarks, we all know it is a mere formality. Also, Mr Ajit Pawar needs to learn something about governance from Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi rather than make fun of his own people. Gujarat too has faced many a drought situation in the past, but with concerted effort and people-friendly policies, the State has managed to overcome the crisis and even become self-reliant.
