Sir — It is good that 45-year-old Anil Kumble, who is respected as a gentleman among players and admired for his abilities as a cricketer, has been empowered to take Team India to the next level. However, he has only been given a one-year contract, which is bound to place him under pressure.
Kumble may not have the experience of coaching a first-class side but his immense international experience as a player, observing how the previous coaches went about their roles and mentoring Indian Premier league teams will hold him in good stead.
