This refers to the editorial, “The washout session” (December 19). The Winter Session of Parliament has turned out to be the second-least productive session in 17 years — the most unproductive being the one in 2010, when Parliament’s work was stalled over a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the 2G scam.
The Winter Session was a theatre of the absurd and nothing made sense except that politics over demonetisation delayed the rollout of Goods and Services Tax Bill and also other key Bills.
We might have imported the Westminster model of parliamentary democracy, but our parliamentarians are yet to learn basic democratic practices pursued in the House of Commons.
