Wall business

Tharcius S Fernando

Sir — At a time when the world is becoming smaller and smaller with technological advancements and breaking barriers that were the tumbling blocks in setting up a border-less society, it is unfortunate that newly elected US President Donald Trump is bent on constructing an ‘impassable’ wall along the Mexican border to stop illegal migrants and speeding deportation of millions of undocumented immigrants. This, he is trying to do conveniently forgetting the fact that he himself is an immigrant through his parentage.

It would be better if someone enlightened Trump of what happened to the German Wall, considered unbreakable and how the Soviet Union, once considered an Iron state, disintegrated  and fell like a pack of cards unable to face its people who rose in clamour against  the dictatorship and autocratic conundrums of the then rulers.
