Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Citizenship rights” (August 1). With the release of the final draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), the long wait may be over, but the fate of some 40 lakh citizens in Assam remains undecided.
It is, however, encouraging that the Government has given them ample opportunity with adequate time to prove proof their citizenship. Those left out from the list must now come clean with their claims. Only those who have valid documents stand to gain. It is also for the Opposition to not indulge in optics and create ruckus over the issue. Instead, realising the dangers of illegal migration, it should help the Government chalk out a plan so that justice may prevail.
