Sir — This refers to the report, “Opp holds RS to ransom, seeks JPC over CSAT” (August 6). Thanks to the irresponsible behaviour of different opposition parties, including the rump Congress, Parliament has been reduced to irrelevance. Any excuse to disrupt proceedings in defiance of the presiding officers appears good enough.
The large amount of tax-payers’ money being wasted on political stalemate hardly pricks any conscience. The Opposition is only concerned with winning brownie points to belittle the ruling party and the Government.
The CSAT issue is a case in point. Due to the concession the Government has offered, a small group of UPSC aspirants seems to have tasted blood. The protesters have acted in a most unruly, lawless manner, unworthy of the reputed service they wish to join.
If any of these aspirants were to get selected, they will destroy the service with their aggression on display. By supporting the aspirants, the Opposition is serving as an accomplice in their criminal acts.
