Sir — I pity Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who finds himself in a most unenviable situation. Of course, a large part of the blame for this can be attributed to his soft and often feeble response to the numerous crises/scams that have gripped the nation in recent times. The continuing downslide of the economy has not helped matters. As the country’s top executive, the Prime Minister can neither evade responsibility nor can he pass the buck for the disasters.
