Sir — This refers to the article, “Coloured mindsets on terror” (June 16) by KG Suresh. The term ‘secularism’ must be re-defined in the Indian context. The present warped meaning and use of the word ‘secular’ in politics should be abandoned.
It has done enough damage to our body politic and spawned an entire generation of rent seekers who double as leaders. The meaning of secularism as it exists in the West has been imported into the Indian context, and it has done the country more harm than good.
