Time for Rahul Gandhi to practise positive politics

Aaraam

This refers to the article, “An eye to the past can help guide the future” (December 12) by Hiranmay Karlekar. Do we need to read books to know the state of affairs in the CongressIJ Today, we accuse the Prime Minister of overdoing his achche din promise. But Indira Gandhi also overused the garibi hatao slogan, which was then regurgitated by Rajiv Gandhi and all the other Congress leaders who took up the mantle on behalf of the first family — till the rightful claimant to the throne arrived.

But the question is: Has he truly arrivedIJ The answer is a resounding ‘no'. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi only engages in negative politics. He needs to come out with a proper plan of action not just for his party but also the nation.

Mr Gandhi will be judged not by his ability to deal verbal blows to the Prime Minister but on whether he can replace Mr Modi in the minds of the people through positive measures.
