Sir — This refers to the article, “What next for Imran Khanij” (August 4) by Hiranmay Karlekar. The writer has narrated horrific incidents of animal sacrifice by supporters of Imran Khan’s party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. But it’s is not just about sacrifice. If the article is to be believed, human race has showed unprecedented or rather highest order of cruelty while sacrificing innocent animals.
It’s difficult to say how many people in Pakistan or may be in any other country will protest such incidents because men in power are feared and in a few countries, methods of punishment are laced with barbarism.
Monarchy to feudalism has not brought much difference in the leader’s attitude. Feudalism to democracy is a big jump. Man-to-man relationship changed and slowly, man to animal relationship too is changing. However, men in power still like to hold back their feudalistic attitude and show it at times as they enjoy power.
Sometime back, a politician in our country brutally stick charged a horse and rendered it such an injury that it could not survive. Whatever it is we human beings need further evolution or a quick wipe out.
