Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Short-sighted politics” (March 20). India’s foreign policy is driven by fear and not by any national interest or strategy. It is nothing but a joke devised in Delhi by people with a myopic view. We are desperately trying to be too good to all the smaller nations in the neighbourhood, but they are turning out to be a huge thorn in our flesh.
Everyone talks about national interest above State interest. So, let’s forget the Tamil issue for a moment. But what did India do to prevent the Sri lankan Navy from killing fishermen from Tamil NaduIJ How is that not a subject of national interestIJ It is time India takes a tougher stance towards Sri lanka and not be intimidated.
