Sycophancy unlimited

Sushil Kumar

Sir — This refers to the news report, “Sops lined up for Sonia’s turf” (July 12).

There appears to be no limit to sycophancy in the Congress. Why are two universities being set up in a small place like Rae BareliIJ Even if it is to promote development, one must ask why the Congress president’s constituency gets priority over other places. Such blatant promotion of the Nehru-Gandhi family’s political interests at the cost of the public exchequer must be stopped.

Also, whenever some new scheme or project is launched by the Congress-led Government, either at the Centre or in the State, it is almost always named after a member of the Nehru-Gandhi family and the proposed universities at Rae Bareli are no different. It appears that for Congressmen, there is an acute shortage of great men and women outside of the Nehru-Gandhi family. For them patriots like Bhagat Singh, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Swami Vivekananda and Syama Prasad Mookerjee do not exist.
