This refers to the editorial, “Defuse Kashmir tension” (April 15). It is a usual practice with the separatists to make a mountain of a mole-hill. They are adept in creating situations where the Army and the Indian state are shown in bad light so that their cause gets strengthened.
Only recently, the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, witnessed tensions between the outstation students and the locals. Even as the matter seems to have subsided, the other incident of the ‘molestation’ of young Kashmiri girl by a Army personnel, which has been denied by the victim herself, has created an ugly situation in the valley. Such situations need to be tackled tactfully and defused promptly so as to maintain law and order in the border State.
