Sir — This refers to the article, “looking for the antithesis of Manmohan Singh” (May 13) by A Surya Prakash. The Congress is to be blamed for the mess it has landed in. The party should have, at least, announced its prime ministerial candidate.
Instead, it depended entirely on its vice president Rahul Gandhi and president Sonia Gandhi to see it through the election. The fact is that the two never were, nor are they now, a match for the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
The BJP’s decision to announce its prime ministerial nominee in advance appears to have paid off, though we must wait for May 16 for the final verdict.
