Sir — At a time when India is grappling with economic difficulties and is dependent on fuel imports, our Ministers and officials in the Government continue to maintain a fleet of vehicles and splurge on fuel extravagantly.
Worse, they never run short of words to ‘advise’ the aam aadmi to practise austerity and save on fuel! Wouldn’t this beleaguered nation and its harried citizens be better served if the elected representatives and those in positions of power, led by example and practised what they preached. In these times of economic crisis, we can ill-afford this extravagance. Indeed, every little act of parsimony will have a beneficial effect.
