Sir — As has been reported in recent times, Maharashtra is facing its worst-ever drought in nearly four decades. Many Indian Premier league matches are scheduled to be held in the State. Cricket grounds in Maharashtra require nearly 60,000 litres of water to keep them in good playing condition.
Now, with the spectre of drought looming large, it would be a criminal waste of water, which will necessarily be required to keep the grounds in a pristine state, and would worsen the drought conditions. The authorities must rethink on the wisdom of holding IPl matches in the State.
