Sour grapes

KV Seetharamaiah

Sir — The Aam Aadmi Party winning the trust vote was a forgone conclusion. The BJP committed a mistake by opposing the confidence motion. The BJP’s argument that the AAP should not have formed the Government, since no party was given a mandate to rule, is untenable.

A coalition regime is formed when no party enjoys a simple majority. The country has seen the last three coalition Governments successfully completing their terms. Bihar has witnessed coalition regimes in which the BJP was a party. let’s not forget that the BJP had extended outside support to the VP Singh Government at the Centre too.

Further, the BJP has taken exception to the AAP taking the support of a party tainted by corruption scams. The BJP is not free from graft charges. Karnataka offers a good example of terrible administration under a BJP rule
