Sir — This refers to the article, “Data that’ll give the game away” (December 11) by Priyadarshi Dutta. He is right that the population of Hindus in the country may have dipped below 80 per cent, and it warrants attention. The recent riots in Uttar Pradesh and the biased attitude of the Samajwadi Party Government cannot be ignored in this context.
With all this and the Congress-led UPA Government’s push to the dangerous Prevention of Communal Violence (Justice and Reparations) Bill, 2013, it is obvious that we are heading towards a situation where the communal divide is going to worsen, since the Government is determined to discriminate on the basis of religion and caste, even in matters of policing.
