Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Soaring vegetable prices” (August 8). It has become a yearly phenomena for price of essential commodities to reach sky-high. The Government’s move to ask the NITI Aayog to come out with a permanent solution to contain food price inflation is welcome. But expecting them to come up with a solution is not certain as the body has not come out with anything worth, noticing last two years of its performance.
Instead, the Government must find other ways and means to solve the problem. It can create fool-proof infrastructure for storage facilities. Cracking down on hoarders too will help. Best of all will be to train our farmers with latest technology. Not only will this contain price rise but will also be a boon for farmer’s viability of the profession as well.
