Shunning responsibility isn't sign of leadership

Jitendra

This refers to the article, “The reluctant leader, a decimated party” (June 7) by Ashok Malik. The so-called intellectual ecosystem, paid for by Congress, should be worried that the dynasts have failed to win and lead.

First it was Congress president Sonia Gandhi who gave up the Prime Minister’s post after hearing an “inner voice” in 2004. Then it was her son and now party vice president Rahul Gandhi in 2009. Now, again, if Mr Gandhi is not ready to lead the party in the lok Sabha, it is up to these ‘intellectuals' to convince the dynasty that its members either lead or allow others to do so.

Come 2019 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his men and women will be roaring in those rallies that Mr Rahul Gandhi chose not to lead his 44 MPs in Parliament. They will ask, and fittingly, why the country should chose him as its leaderIJ The Congress will have no answer then.
