Shocking This refers to continuing VVIP racism at airports and Air India planes, one involving a personal aide of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and another relating to Union Minister of State for Home Kiran Rijiju at Mumbai and leh airports respectively. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took serious cognisance and ordered an inquiry. The humility of BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra in seeking an unconditional apology on a television channel on behalf of his party colleagues is appreciable.
But it is troublesome that threats against honest and dutiful Air India officers having put on record the sequence of VVIP racism, are being given by certain people in the ruling BJP. Jammu & Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh has already lodged a complaint against an Air India official. A spokesperson of the BJP, on a television news channel, has said that the Maharashtra Chief Minister will be filing a defamation case against the Air India official concerned. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Home Kiran Rijiju, who was earlier adamant on having done no wrong, has now apologised to the offloaded passengers.
