Selective condemnation

Kajal Chatterjee

Sir — This refers to the article, “Free speech brigade silent on Indu Sarkar” (August 1) by A Surya Prakash. The writer holds every right to condemn the silence of the ‘free speech’ brigade on Madhur Bhandarkar’s film, Indu Sarkar.

But why does he remain silent on the pin drop silence of the self-declared ‘nationalist democratic’ brigade on The Argumentative Indian — a documentary by Film-maker Suman Ghosh on Amartya SenIJ

By which moral, democratic or Constitutional right have the concerned authorities banned the release of the documentaryIJ By doing this they have assaulted the very essence of democracy ie freedom of speech and also expressionIJ

Just because Amartya Sen dares to call a spade a spade by condemning communalism, pogroms and atrocities on minorities; the nobel laureate is repeatedly being made the victim of political vendetta.
