Security lapse

M Ratan

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Not learning lessonsIJ” (December 1). It is beyond comprehension as to how the Army, having faced several terror attacks in the past, including the Uri attack, with similar modus operandi, failed to notice yet another attempt to infiltrate a sensitive Field Regiment camp in Nagrota, by three to four heavily armed Pakistan-sponsored fidayeen who killed two Army officers and five jawans. It is presumed that these camps are heavily guarded 24x7. Clearly, there are some serious gaps in the security and vigilance apparatus which must be plugged sooner than later. This does no credit to the country and the Armed Forces’ image.
