Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Scrap this triple talaq” (December 10). India badly needs to do away with regressive practices like triple talaq to adapt itself to the evolutionary progress of mankind. The Allahabad High Court’s observation is welcome as it upholds the principle of equality and gender justice. Practices such as triple talaq and polygamy go against the rights of Indian Muslim women and hence must be abolished.
