Sir — This refers to the report “Coal Minister yet to give CBI 257 files, probe suffers” (August 21). The case of missing coal block allocation files, is yet another instance of how some leading lights of the Congress-led UPA Government not only presided over the coal scam but also destroyed the evidence by making 257 files ‘disappear’.
Hopefully, the Supreme Court will take a stern view of the crucial files going missing. The apex court should not only cancel the allotted coal mines with retrospective effect, but force the CBI to interrogate the Ministers concerned, including even the Prime Minister.
If the files are not found, as a deterrent punishment, the loss accrued should be collected from the Congress and its partners in the UPA, by confiscating their funds and freezing their personal as well as the parties’ official bank accounts.
