Sir — Finally, The Energy and Resources Institute has removed its Director General, Mr RK Pachauri, from his post following the allegation that he had sexually misbehaved with an employee. The decision came days after he got the court’s permission to resume work at Teri’s office, barring the ones where the victim worked.
It is clear that the management of Teri had to bow to public outrage and decide to sack Mr Pachauri. This brings the accused’s term to an end at the institute, but the legal case is still on. The problem is that legal cases in India drag on for years, making a mockery of justice. Moreover, very few influential people get convicted because they have the means to hire the best legal talent to fight their case.
