Ridiculous pricing

Subhash Chandra Agrawal

Sir — It is indeed shocking that the postal department delivers highly subsidised rubber stamped post cards at just 50 paisa each to All India Radio (AIR). According to rules, rubber stamped post cards should be considered as printed post cards and, therefore, must carry a postal tariff of six rupees and must not be delivered to AIR.

The bitter fact is that subsidised post cards are not used by common people. These are misused for commercial purposes by chit fund companies to send reminders for payments.

Ideally, unpopular postal items like post cards and inland letter cards should be discontinued to prevent unnecessary subsidy loss on the public exchequer. It is ridiculous to price post cards at 50 or 25 paisa when coins of these denominations are not even available anymore. Rubber stamped post cards should be dumped without delivery or the option of return back.
