Sir — This refers to the editorial, “One more big chance” (May 14), exhorting Mr Nawaz Sharif to seize this opportunity to reduce tension and improve ties between India and Pakistan.
The hand of friendship Mr Sharif has offered is a welcome move. And it would be very good if he is able to deliver on the promises he made in his manifesto. Also, despite the strong mandate Mr Sharif has received, we can be sure that he will not entirely be able to keep the Army and the ISI away from interfering in crafting policies vis-à-vis India. let’s hope Mr Sharif can work his magic!
