Sir — This refers to the restoration of Z-security cover to senior Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh. As per media reports, Amar Singh had written to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs about a life threat from a member of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s camp. If threat perception is from one single person, then investigation should be done in the matter; wasting the tax-payers’ money in these cases is inappropriate.
Such security covers for politicians is uncalled for, that too at a time when the security of citizens is always at risk. The Union Government must review the security cover provided to politicians and bring it to a bare minimum.
